That comes from (and this is true) a motorbike crash that I had in England about 18 years ago. That was a bad time for me, but now I'm happy as I'm in the 'scar on the chin club' along with Kiki Ressler (Managing Director, KKT), and many many others who I've bumped into over the years. I can't remember which friends have the same, but there are loads. Whoever reads this and has one, please tell me over facebook and send a pic if possible.

Die stammt (und das stimmt wirklich) von einem Motorradunfall, den ich vor etwa 18 Jahren in England hatte. Das war eine schlimme Zeit für mich, aber jetzt bin ich glücklich darüber, weil ich dadurch neben Kiki Ressler (Geschäftsführer von KKT) und vielen, vielen anderen, die mir im Laufe der Jahre über den Weg gelaufen sind, Mitglied im „Narbe am Kinn Club“ wurde. Ich kann mich nicht erinnern, wer meiner Freunde die gleiche Narbe hat, aber es sind viele. Wie war es für dich, als du für Wölli nachgerückt bist, in eine bestehende Band einzusteigen? Hast du dich schnell eingelebt?

Good question. Yes, it took quite a while as I had to go out and order a smaller drum stool and it took 3 weeks to arrive. After that I settled in very quick and could reach the double bass drum pedals that Kuddel loves to hear ALL the time (and now Vince (Co-Producer “In aller Stille“)).

Gute Frage. Ja, es hat schon eine Weile gedauert, weil ich losziehen und einen kleineren Drumhocker bestellen musste und der erst nach drei Wochen ankam. Danach hab ich mich sehr schnell eingelebt und bin auch an die Double Bass Drum Pedale gekommen, die Kuddel (und neuerdings auch Vince (Co-Produzent „In aller Stille“))immer so gerne hört.

It’s easy, I just bring a bottle of vodka and get Susan (our stylist) totally rat arsed before she starts on me and then wait to see what happens. So it’s all her fault. One time she was so drunk she tried to shave it all off while I was holding her up. Women and alcohol just don't mix.

Das ist einfach. Ich bringe einfach eine Flasche Wodka mit und mache Susan (unsere Stylistin) sturzbesoffen, bevor sie mit meinen Haaren anfängt, und dann warte ich einfach ab, was passiert. Also ist es im Endeffekt ihre Schuld. Einmal war sie so betrunken, dass sie versucht hat, meine Haare komplett abzurasieren, während ich sie gestützt habe. Frauen und Alkohol passen einfach nicht zusammen.

Yes, that’s absolutely true. In fact, that’s what the band pays me for, as it makes them very happy. The drumming part for me is just a 'hobby job'. After a concert they fill me up with beer and watch me running around in my 'birthday suit' all night . That’s when the real show starts.

Ja, das ist absolut richtig. In Wirklichkeit ist es das, wofür mich die Band bezahlt und es macht sie sehr glücklich. Das Schlagzeugen ist nur ein „Hobby-Job“. Nach einem Konzert füllen sie mich mit Bier ab und sehen mir dabei zu, wie ich den ganzen Abend im Adamskostüm durch die Gegend renne. Das ist der Moment, in dem die richtige Show beginnt.

Definitely, that’s why I live here. Most English people will tell you the same story. In most pubs the beer is flat, overpriced and full of chemicals. The real ale pubs have been on the decline for years and the best beers are dying out due to a monopoly of the profit orientated big breweries BUT saying tha, last time i was over there seemed to be a new trend of pubs that are starting to have a impact based on selling better quality cheaper priced beers so all is not lost and hopefully that will continue. The Germans are proud of their beer and rate quality over profit. I'll get off me box now...

Absolut, das ist der Grund, warum ich hier lebe. Die meisten Engländer werden Dir das Gleiche sagen. In den meisten Pubs ist das Bier schal, überteuert und voll von Chemikalien. Die richtigen Ale Pubs gehen schon seit Jahren zurück und die besten Biersorten sterben aus - aufgrund von Monopolen von profitorientierten großen Brauereien, ABER jetzt wo ich das so erzähle… als ich das letzte mal dort war, habe ich einen neuen Trend beobachten können von Pubs, die von sich reden machen, weil sie günstigere Biere von besserer Qualität verkauft haben. Es ist also noch nicht Hopfen und Malz verloren und ich hoffe, dass sich das fortsetzt. Die Deutschen sind stolz auf ihr Bier und stellen Qualität über Profit...

Ist zur Albumveröffentlichung mit den “Mattless Boys” auch eine Deutschland-Tour geplant?

Great time for an ad!!!!! The new album is coming out October 15th on Drumming Monkey Records and hopefully it will be in a record store near you. Also on limited 1000 copies colour vinyl... get it while it's hot. We would like to do a release show in Berlin (check Mattless Boys myspace for details on that saturday (16th) and maybe a tour next year. I would love to play the Sonic Ballroom in Köln if we make a tour.

Super Zeitpunkt für Werbung!!!!! Das neue Album erscheint am 15. Oktober auf Drumming Monkey Records und wird hoffentlich auch in einem Plattenladen in deiner Umgebung zu kriegen sein. Auch in limitierte 1.000er Auflage als Colour-Vinyl. Greif zu, bevor es zu spät ist! Wir würden gerne am Samstag (16.10.) nach der Albumveröffentlichung ein Konzert in Berlin spielen (mehr Infos findest Du auf der MySpace-seite der „Mattless Boys“). Eventuell spielen wir eine Tour im nächsten Jahr, und ich fände es super, dann im Sonic Ballroom in Köln aufzutreten.
